Iohexol is the raw material of contrast agent, and it is used for angiography, urological system, spinal cord and femoral joint, lymphatic system contrast. It has the advantages of low contrast density, low toxicity, and good tolerance.
Iohexol contrast agent is a non-ionic water-soluble contrast agent, the osmotic pressure is close to plasma, the viscosity is moderate, and it is easy to inject. Both clinical angiography and urogram have been shown to be less toxic than ionic contrast agents and safer for myelography use. The reason is that the non-ionic contrast agent has weak stimulation of mast cells, low histamine release, and is not easy to cause allergic reactions. Iohexol has a weak effect on vasodilation, is not easy to cause hypotension, has little damage to the vascular endothelium, is not easy to form thrombus, and has little impact on heart and kidney function.
