Tranilast is suitable for the treatment of bronchial asthma, allergic rhinitis, atopic dermatitis, etc.
Tranistist is an antiallergic drug that inhibits the release of substances such as histamine and prostaglandins from mast cells, thereby inhibiting collagen synthesis in fibroblasts derived from keloid tissue. Tranilast inhibits collagen synthesis in fibroblasts derived from proliferative scar tissue, but healthy skin fibroblasts are not affected. Tranilast inhibits the release of transforming growth factor (TGF)-β1 from fibroblasts, which enhances collagen synthesis in fibroblasts derived from keloid tissue. Tranilast improves abnormal proliferation of keloids and hypertrophic scars and excessive accumulation of collagen by fibroblasts.
