Diammonium phosphate is an inorganic compound, colorless transparent monoclinic crystal or white powder, in order to increase storage resistance, some products add wrapping agent in the production process to make the product appearance brown. It is easily soluble in water and insoluble in ethanol. It has a certain hygroscopicity, easy to decompose in humid air, volatilizing ammonia into ammonium dihydrogen phosphate. The aqueous solution is weakly alkaline with pH 8.0. Heat to 155 °C to decompose. Melt at 190 °C to liberate ammonia and water.
Diammonium phosphate is used as a feed additive for ruminants.
