Doramectin（CAS 117704-25-3）is a fermentation-derived macrocyclic lactone (avermectin family) endectocide — specifically 25-cyclohexyl-5-O-demethyl-25-de(1-methylpropyl)avermectin A1a ("25-cyclohexylavermectin B1"). It is produced by mutational biosynthesis using a genetically selected Streptomyces avermitilis strain fed a cyclohexanecarboxylic acid precursor, which installs the signature C25 cyclohexyl group. This distinguishes it from ivermectin (C25 sec-butyl) and gives doramectin higher lipophilicity, higher plasma levels, a longer half-life (~5–6 days vs ivermectin's ~2 days), and longer persistent activity.
