Florfenicol is a veterinary antibiotic commonly used at present, with a wide antibacterial spectrum and strong bacteriostatic effect.
Florfenicol inhibits the extension of peptide chains by tightly binding to the 50S subunit on bacterial ribosomes, hindering the transpeptide reaction of peptide acyltransferases; At the same time, it selectively acts on the receptors of the 70S nucleoprotein body that makes up the bacterial body, changes and interferes with the function of peptidyltransferase, thereby double interfering with the synthesis of bacterial proteins. Florfenicol has strong antibacterial activity against a variety of gram-positive bacteria, gram-negative bacteria and mycoplasma.
