Guanidine hydrochloride is a broad-spectrum bacteriostatic agent with a bactericidal effect at high concentrations. Guanidine hydrochloride has a certain antibacterial effect on streptococcus pneumonia, hemolytic streptococcus, chlorophyllous vivirida, and some staphylococci, bacillus perfringens, bacillus anthracis, Y. pestis, diphtheria bacillus, tetanus bacillus, brucella species, Haemophilus influenza, campylobacter spp., vibrio cholera, and it also has inhibitory effects on rickettsia, mycoplasma, chlamydia, spirochetes, and some protozoa.
