Ketotifen fumarate belongs to the antihistamine, anti-asthmatics, which are used to prevent and treat bronchitis and asthma.
Ketotifen fumarate is characterized by a combination of strong antagonism of histamine H1 receptors and inhibition of the release of mediators of allergic reactions. It can inhibit the release of various mediators of mast cells, basophils and macrophages, including the release of slow-reactive substances and other active substances, antagonize calcium ions, inhibit phosphodiesterase, and increase the content of cAMP in mast cells. Inhibits the chemotaxis and inflammatory response of neutrophils, its effect is 10 times stronger than chlorpheniramine maleate, and has a long-lasting effect, stronger than cromolyn sodium.
