Lamivudine is an antiviral drug used in the treatment of hepatobiliary diseases.
Lamivudine is a new antiviral drug that belongs to the nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor, which has a strong inhibitory effect on hepatitis B virus (HBV) in vitro and experimental infected animals, and can inhibit the synthesis of HIV virus. Lamivudine is metabolized in HBV-infected cells and normal cells to produce lamivudine triphosphate, the active form of lamivudine and both an inhibitor and substrate of HBV polymerase. Lamivudine triphosphate is incorporated into viral DNA strands, blocking viral DNA synthesis without interfering with normal cellular deoxynucleoside metabolism.
