Levetiracetam is a novel antiepileptic drug. The antiepileptic mechanism of levetiracetam may be: 1) inhibition of high-voltage activation of pyramidal neurons in the hippocampus. 2) Acts on synaptic vesicle protein, inhibits epileptic discharge by regulating the extracellular substellation function of synaptic vesicles and the release of presynaptic neurotransmitters. 3) Negative allosteric degeneration of inverting receptor pushers, inhibition of energy and glycergic neurons, indirectly enhancing and central inhibitory effect of glycoxy acid. 4) Blocks the downregulation of cerebral cortical receptors and retains the downregulated receptors in the hippocampus to enhance the inhibitory effect on neuronal circuits.
