Netilmicin sulfate is used to treat serious infections caused by sensitive gram-negative bacilli. By specifically binding to the small subunit of bacterial ribosome 30S, netilmicin sulfate interferes with bacterial protein synthesis, thereby exhibiting excellent killing activity against bacteria, especially gram-negative bacteria, and is therefore widely used in clinical treatment.
