Nifedipine is a dihydropyridine calcium antagonist, which can inhibit the uptake of Ca2+ by myocardium and vascular smooth muscle, dilate coronary arteries, increase coronary blood flow, improve myocardial tolerance to ischemia, and at the same time dilate peripheral arterioles, reduce peripheral vascular resistance, relieve coronary artery spasm, increase coronary flow, improve myocardial hypoxia, thereby reducing blood pressure. Nifedipine has a certain selectivity for vascular smooth muscle, and the direct negative inotropic effect and degeneration effect on the heart are weak.
Nifedipine is a long-acting coronary dilation agent. Nifedipine increases coronary blood flow and reduces myocardial oxygen consumption. It is used for acute and chronic coronary insufficiency, especially angina and myocardial infarction.
