Procaterol hydrochloride is a beta2 receptor agonist, has high selectivity for beta2 receptors of the bronchi, blocks the cough reflex, reduces vascular permeability, reduces pulmonary edema, activates adenylate cyclase, increases the level of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP), makes the respiratory tract hyperreactivity obtained, from inhibiting bronchospasm, promoting cilia movement, excreting sputum. Procaterol hydrochloride also has a strong antiallergic effect, which can not only inhibit the increase of airway resistance in the immediate form, but also inhibit the increase of airway response in the delayed type.
