Secnidazole is a nitroimidazole anti-infective agent. Secnidazole is used as an anti-amoebic drug and an anti-trichomoniasis drug.
Secnidazole is used for the treatment of urethritis, vaginitis, male prostatitis caused by trichomonas vaginalisis, various acute and chronic hepatic and enteric amebiasis (intestinal amebiasis, hepatic amebiasis), and also used for the treatment of giardiasis and anaerobic infections in various parts of the human body.
