Sulindac is used for rheumatism, rheumatoid arthritis, acute gout, etc.
Sulindac can be converted by liver enzymes into sulfides that inhibit prostaglandin synthesis, and can also be metabolized in vivo into sulfone compounds with the effect of treating colonic polyps and inhibiting early cancer progression. Sulinac is a very inactive prodrug that is metabolized into active sulfides after entering the human body, which can inhibit cyclooxygenases and reduce the synthesis of prostaglandins, thereby having analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effects.
