Teicoplanin is mainly used for penicillin-resistant and cephalosporin-resistant gram-positive bacterial infections, such as endocarditis, osteomyelitis, sepsis and respiratory, urinary tract, skin infections, etc.
The mechanism of action of teicoplanin is to inhibit the synthesis of the cell wall, interfere with the synthesis process of new parts in peptidoglycan, teicoplanin binds to bacterial cell wall mucin in the division and reproduction stage, and binds to aminoacyl-D-alanine-D-alanine at the end of the mucin, thereby preventing the synthesis of bacterial cell wall membrane and achieving inhibition and killing of bacteria.
