Triclosan can kill bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and E. coli and fungi such as Candida albicans, and also has a inhibitory effect on viruses (such as hepatitis B virus), while protecting beneficial bacteria.
The bactericidal mechanism of triclosan is to first adsorb on the bacterial cell wall, and then penetrate the cell wall, react with lipids and proteins in the cytoplasm, lead to protein denaturation, and then kill bacteria. Triclosan has been widely used in high-efficiency medicated soaps (sanitary soaps, sanitary lotions), armpit odor removal (foot aerosol), hand sanitizer, wound disinfectant sprays, medical device disinfectants, sanitary facial cleansers (ointments), air fresheners and refrigerator deodorants and other daily chemicals, also used in the finishing of sanitary fabrics and plastic antiseptic treatment, high-purity can be used for the treatment of gingivitis, periodontitis and mouth ulcers and other therapeutic toothpaste and mouthwash.
