Voriconazole is a broad-spectrum antifungal agent that treats fungal infections in both humans and animals.
Voriconazole can inhibit the activity of lanosterol 14α-demethylase and 24-methylenedihydrolanosterol demethylase in fungal cells, thereby inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an important substance on the fungal cell membrane, resulting in fungal cell membrane defect and leakage of important cellular components and death. Voriconazole is a broad-spectrum triazole antifungal drug with the following indications: 1. treatment of invasive aspergillosis; 2. treatment of severe invasive infections (including Candida croreaus) caused by fluconazole-resistant Candida; 3. treatment of serious infections caused by Actinomycetes and Fusarium species.
