Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) is used as a dyeing assistant, fiber treatment agent, cosmetic additive, blood anticoagulant, water treatment agent, a rubber polymerization initiator, PVC heat stabilizer, etc.
Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) can be complex with a variety of metal ions to form a stable ring structure, effectively reduce or inhibit the side reactions or harmful effects caused by metal ions, and is the most widely used metal chelating agent. Due to its excellent chelating properties, ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid is mainly used in photographic chemicals, water treatment agents, chemical (cystine) refining, detergents, textile auxiliaries, leather chemicals, papermaking chemicals, pharmaceuticals, synthetic rubber, micro-fertilizer production, and other fields. Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid is an amino polycarboxylic acid that effectively chelates calcium ions in blood samples. Chelating calcium or removing calcium from the reaction site will block and terminate endogenous or exogenous coagulation processes, thereby preventing coagulation of the blood specimen.
