              Repaglinide is mainly used to treat type II diabetes mellitus in which diet control, weight reduction and exercise cannot effectively control high blood sugar.
Repaglinide is a fast-acting, short-acting insulin-secretion-stimulating mealtime glycemic regulator. Its mechanism of action is mainly by closing the potassium channels on the β cell membrane, causing calcium ion influx, increasing the concentration of calcium ions in cells, thereby stimulating insulin secretion. However, it is different from the receptor site of sulfonylurea drugs, and the drug does not enter β cells, does not inhibit protein synthesis or directly causes exocytosis of insulin.
