Somatostatin acetate is an endogenous regulatory hormone present in the human body and has a wide range of inhibitory effects on a variety of physiological functions.
Somatostatin acetate exerts the diversity and specificity of its own functions through endocrine, exocrine, neurosecretory, and special paracrine. Somatostatin acetate has an inhibitory effect on growth hormone, thyroid-stimulating hormone, insulin, glucagon, pancreatic polypeptide, cholecystokinin, gastrin, and other hormones, and can also inhibit gastric acid, liver, and bile secretion, affecting gastrointestinal absorption, exercise, and blood flow. Somatostatin acetate has a protective effect on the pancreas, liver, and gastric cells. Somatostatin acetate is often used in severe acute esophageal variceal bleeding, severe acute gastric and duodenal ulcer bleeding, acute erosive gastritis or hemorrhagic gastritis, adjuvant therapy of pancreas, biliary and intestinal repeats, adjuvant treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis.
